.... Dawlish community working together to SAVE SANDY LANE recreation and leisure facilities....

Ongoing campaign news...

Remember THERE ARE OTHER SUPERMARKETS and OTHER SITES!  We do not have to have Tesco's, and we certainly do not have to have a supermarket (or housing) on Sandy Lane!

There's no such thing as "nowhere else to build one!" If (heaven forbid) Sandy Lane was already built on - they'd have to find somewhere else wouldn't they?

Here's a few things you can do:

  • Tesco's consultation has been and gone, but you can visit the website: www.asupermarketfordawlish.co.uk
  • If you fill in obscure email addresses it still works!   To enter more than once, go on the website from other computers.
  • If you got a card - make sure you fill them in. Pass them to friends and neighbours!  We understand that certain streets (backing onto Sandy Lane) have not received cards - how flawed can this process get - and biased towards Tesco's?  Try to even up the balance.
  • PRINT OFF A POSTER - PUT IT IN YOUR WINDOW, or DELIVER IT TO NEIGHBOURS

Download a poster from this page  (scroll right down to the bottom). If you deliver it to neighbours or round your street (and it would be fabulous if you did) please let us know which road(s) you've done so that we don't duplicate your effort.

  • WRITE TO COUNCILLORS

Tell them how you feel, how important this land is to you, why it needs to be saved, why we need them to support residents.  Why they need to object to a supermarket on Sandy Lane.  It CAN be built elsewhere

  • LET US KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Send us your email address and we'll make sure you're kept up to date with latest movements, all the emails that are flying around and the comments from the different councils (it ranges from fun to frustrating, but the responses we are getting are real eye-openers!

  • TELL US OF ANY IDEAS

However wacky, if they get media attention, and drive the message home, we're all ears!

TOWN GREEN

We are trying to register Sandy Lane playing fields as a town green - this will protect Sandy Lane from building.  However, a number of people would prefer NOT to have Sandy Lane protected by this status.  Here's a list of those who DON'T want Sandy Lane Playing FIelds to be protected by Town Green.  Feel free to write to them, email them or phone them up!
